Specimen 2000
A 20 minute narrative piece created in response to the museum context - a satire on anthropology and categorisation. The set represented a display cabinet and included information tags of sabotaged text from Neville Cayley’s What Bird is That? A "Crested Stalker" was brought in from a field trip by a scientist and pinned into the cabinet. The Crested Stalker came to life, escaped, then took revenge, pinning the scientist to the cabinet in its place, and piercing shut the scientist’s mouth. The show ended with the Crested Stalker decorating herself in triumph with feathered needles and flying offstage.
